Blue Cedar Tree Removed in Dronfield

Dronfield, Blue Cedar Tree Removal: Tony Hands – Hands-on Tree Care

A customer was searching for Tree Surgeon Dronfield when she found Hands on Tree Care, she needed us to look at a mature Blue Cedar tree which was clearly dying. It’s very sad when a dramatic centrepiece tree is diseased, but often we have no choice but to remove the tree.

This particular Cedar tree was affected by a fungus that causes shoot blight and defoliation of the canopy which becomes visible in the crown of the tree as “browning off”. Meaning that the leaves/needles start to look brown and discoloured.

The specimen was approximately 40 years old and 45ft in height, so quite an imposing tree.

How We Removed The Cedar Tree

We couldn’t risk carrying out a traditional Tree felling in case the tree or any falling debris damaged the adjacent property. Instead, we decided that it would be best to dismantle the tree using sectional dismantling.

Trees that are located on boundary lines can often become a problem for your neighbours, but it’s always your responsibility to manage the trees on your side of the boundary.

The Cedar Tree was dismantled in sections by rope and harness. Our expert Tree surgeons use ropes and harnesses to climb up into the tree, then we remove the smaller branches and twigs before cutting the larger branches then dismantling the tree trunk into manageable sections.

Logs and debris were removed after the tree was cut down.

Once all the tree work was completed, which took around half a day, the site was left tidy. In this instance, we covered the clients’ driveway with Tarpaulins which were laid down to prevent needles from dropping on the gravel.
