Tony Hands’ owner at Hands on Tree Care recently confronted a special challenge in the bustling city of Sheffield, where trees dot the landscape. Safety was of the utmost importance when a 60-year-old tree with a height of 18 metres was to be removed.
Using a MEWP and prioritising safety
Climbing the tree was not an option because of how dangerous it was. To do the task quickly and safely, the knowledgeable team at Hands on Tree Care used a MEWP (mobile elevated working platform). The arborists could reach the tree’s top reaches thanks to this specialised equipment, which also provided a safe working environment.
Sectional Tree Removal:
A mature tree of this size has to be removed carefully. The tree was neatly dismantled into pieces by the Hands on Tree Care team. In order to use this technique, the tree had to be carefully cut into manageable parts, working our way down from the top. By adopting this strategy, we reduced the possibility of nearby structures being harmed and assured controlled clearance.
The Value of Good Access:
Good access is essential for the efficient operation of heavy equipment like a MEWP. Hands on Tree Care is aware of how important it is for the machinery to have a clear path. The operation was successfully completed thanks to easy manoeuvrability and a well-kept location with plenty of room.
60 years old and 18 metres tall, a majestic tree
This arboricultural project featured a tree that wasn’t your typical sapling. For 60 years, it had been a steadfast structure that had seen the passing of the years and supported a variety of fauna. Its disposal was made safe because of its towering height of 18 metres, which called for trained personnel and specialised tools.
Hands on Tree Care takes pride in their professionalism and attention to detail and so making the area clean and tidy after completion is an equally important part of the work. We made sure the area was left orderly and clean removing all the branches and logs in a responsible manner, leaving no remnants.
Don’t be afraid to call Tony Hands at Hands on Tree Care for qualified assistance if you need to complete work involving trees that require trained hands and specialised tools.
