Pollarding Lime Trees – Norfolk Park, Sheffield

Pollarding Lime Trees – Norfolk Park, Sheffield: Tony Hands, Tree Surgeon.

We recently went into the Norfolk Park area of  Sheffield which is a ( conservation area), to look at a Pollarding job.

The customer had some Lime trees which had a TPO  (Tree Preservation Order) on them.  We submitted an application to carry out some tree work on behalf of the client. This is something that Hands on Tree care are used to doing for our clients.  Its all part of the service because it cuts down waiting times and minimises the possibility of errors and omissions in the applications.
Permission was granted to re-pollard 2 mature lime trees to 3 meters high.  The trees were reduced to allow more light into the property.  In addition, it’s worth pointing out that pruning trees in this manner are also good for their growth and development, to stop them from becoming too leggy.

Pollarding Lime Trees Successfully

Pollarding Trees is usually a standard piece of work for us. This job was complicated a little by 2 telephone wires going through the canopy of the trees.  So, some precision chainsaw work was required whilst pollarding the Limes. We wanted to prevent damage to telephone cabling.

Once we were done, we cut up the larger boughs and branches into small logs.  Sometimes customers want to keep the logs for their own use but in this instance, we removed all the logs along with the smaller branches and twigs and then tidied the site up, leaving it just as wed found it.
